Dear 10 rater sailors,

Back in July last year, Graham Frazer emailed you to arrange a date for the 2013 MYA 10 rater National Championship to avoid any clash with rival events, which spoiled the entry to the 2012 10 rater Championship.

Guildford Model Yacht Club are organising the 2013 event over 2 days and attached is a preliminary notice confirming the details of the event and the venue. We will be issuing a formal Notice of Race closer to the event when all the details will have been decided.

"The Guildford Model Yacht Club extends a very warm welcome to our friends and all 10
rater sailors, for a two day event to create lots of good racing to celebrate growing interest in these
beautiful lightweight boats, in a friendly but competitive atmosphere.
Our water at Abbey Meads Lake, near Thorpe Park in Chertsey is close to the M25 London ring
road and within 2 hours drive from the nearest ports, Portsmouth, Southampton, Dover and
Harwich, and a few minutes from Heathrow airport. Please look on the GMYC website www.

We have a reputation for organising successful events like Euro Grand Prix and National
Championships in recent years and for providing visiting sailors with lots of good racing, so we
hope that you will come and bring your fellow club members too. Abbey Meads Lake is a superb
open water, ideal for 10 rater racing. It is 800 metres long, 10 hectares in area with 2.5 metre high
raised banks to allow good visibility to the distant marks. There are two control areas on separate
banks to allow good courses to be set for east/west and north/south wind directions. The club
now has 2 magnificent new sets of steps to gain safe and easy access to the launching platforms.
Whilst the lake provides really good conditions for radio racing, facilities at the lakeside are limited,
as we have no clubhouse, but we will be doing our best to make you welcome. To make up for
the lack of catering facilities there will be a dinner on the Saturday evening at a local hostelry to
which all visiting sailors and supporters are welcome. For those supporters who may not want to
watch the racing, we are not far from central London and very close to the adventure park,
THORPE PARK, “the nation’s thrill capital”.
We will be issuing a formal Notice of Race closer to the event , but in the meantime contact

ça y est, de retour ! Dur, dur, j'ai été mauvais, réglage un peu juste samedi ! mais bateau tjs parmi les plus rapides.
Mais bon j'ai appris beaucoup de choses
Désolé et merci pour les encouragements.
J'ai eu l'occasion de vous filmer une flotte B, juste pour voir le vent, c'est épatant !! certains sur cette course n'ont fait que du portant, d'autres que du prés (dans les deux sens sur parcours banane tribord).

Bravo à Graham qui a bien su profiter des moindres occasions, idem Trevor (Prime number avec gréements 10) et Colin (Diamond 83) que je connaissais pas.
Moi j'ai appris que dans un vent aussi pourri il vaut mieux ne pas être premier, j'ai été premier sur 6 courses sur presque la totalité du parcours, pour finir sur le dernier bord dans un trou, les autres profitant pour passer à gauche ou à droite, évidement aucun n'a voulu m'accompagner dans ma solitude !! les vilains
D'ailleurs celles que j'ai gagné ça l'a fait dans le dernier bord.

Bref encore un bon souvenir, j'avoue que je pensais être pire, heureusement que j'ai fini sur une note positive, descendant en B grâce à une belle touffe d'algues, je claque la B puis la A dans la foulée.

Vivement la prochaine à Bordeaux !
